Jonathan Sanchez, Shin Soo-Choo & The Value of the Thumb Guard

Thumb protector worn by Choo
Last June 24th the Indians were in San Francisco to take on the Giants. Shin Soo-Choo was finally starting to resemble the Shin Soo-Choo of old getting 10 hits in his previous 34 at-bats. Choo came to the plate with the Indians ahead 2-0 with 1-out in the fourth and took a Jonathan Sanchez fastball to his hand resulting in a broken thumb. The injury sidelined Choo until August 12th.

Earlier this season against Chris Sale of the Chicago White Sox Choo once again had a ball hit him right in the thumb this time he credits a protective device for avoiding the injury.

Today Choo will stand in against Sanchez with the magical thumb protector and hope to continue to find his groove at the plate after having his first multi-hit game of the year against the Royals on Friday afternoon.
