Asdrubal's Bat Flip An Ominous Sign?

Asdrubal Cabrera and the Indians had every reason to celebrate their walk-off victory vs the Angels. When Asdrubal's single landed in RF he celebrated with a bat flip at home plate. The problem certainly isn't the jubilant bat flip--the problem is that the Angels are struggling as a team and are looking for something to pull them together as a team. They just got swept in Tampa and have now lost five in a row including back to back losses in walk off fashion. Although it's only April they have to be concerned about the sluggish start to and can't be happy landing the basement in the AL West with a record of 6-14.

If things go south tomorrow at Progressive Field I wouldn't be surprised to see the Angels pitchers take aim at Asdrubal...if for no other reason then to relieve frustrations.

The Angels frustration was evident after Torri Hunter made the following comment (after a closed door players only meeting) after Wednesday's loss to the Rays.
"You have to dig deep," right fielder Torii Hunter said. "We can't get down in the first two innings and say, 'Here we go again.' We have to fight a little harder. I don't think we believe we're trying that hard. We're just going through the motions. We have to do what we're capable of doing. That's everybody; not just the players." - LA TIMES
The Angels responded Thursday by playing a solid game vs the Rays until the ninth inning when Brandon Allen hit a mammoth walk off home run to give the Rays the sweep.

After the Indians defeated the Angels on Friday night they released OF/DH Bobby Abreu and called up top prospect Mike Trout. The tension in the Angels clubhouse is getting thick and I wouldn't be surprised if the Angels fall behind Saturday if the pressure relief valve comes in the form of dotting Asdrubal Cabrera.
